Academic advantages

Online learning gives students opportunities to take a more active role in their education. Following a learning plan, completing assignments, and checking progress can help students build independence and confidence.

Students can benefit from:

  • Opportunities to revisit available lesson materials and strengthen understanding.
  • Practice organizing assignments and managing their time.
  • Experience communicating questions and seeking academic help.
  • Digital literacy skills useful in further education and the workplace.
  • A focused daily routine supported by regular family check-ins.

Learning needs change as students grow. Younger learners benefit from consistent adult guidance, while middle and high school students can gradually take more responsibility for planning and completing their work.

Brightspire and Imagine Learning

TKO’s Brightspire learning option connects online coursework with the technology that supports virtual education.

Brightspire describes its public grades 6–12 program as a structured, flexible learning experience supported by certified teachers, mentors, and on-demand tutors. Its learning management platform is operated by Imagine Learning. TKO families should follow their district-provided course assignments and support arrangements. The Imagine Learning Virtual Portal (ILVP) helps organize the people and information behind online learning. Its tools support course enrollment, communication between students and teachers, and monitoring of academic progress. A family portal can also give parents and guardians access to student activity and grades. Available features depend on the school’s setup. Imagine Learning Virtual Portal overview
